A historic landmark summit between President Donald Trump of USA and President Vladimir Putin of Russia, took place in Anchorage, Alaska, USA, on August 15, 2025. The summit called Trump-Putin Summit alias Alaska 2025, took place at a US military base on the outskirts of Anchorage, under the slogan Pursuing Peace.

The International Democratic Union (IDU), International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), and European Parliament (EP) have lambasted the government of Tanzania for arresting the country's main opposition leader Tundu Lissu during a political rally by his party CHADEMA in the town of Mbinga in Southern Tanzania, and charging him with treason.
