Tanzania's regime that took power after sham general elections in November 2025, has banned political rallies in the country. That was reported by some media on June 27, 2026.

According to the reports, the regime imposed the ban on political rallies on June 26, 2026, through ordering the country's police to halt issuing permits for such rallies.
Reportedly, the ban comes ahead of planned youths' protests against the following.
Last year's sham general elections
Continued incarceration of the main opposition leader Tundu Lissu who was arrested in April 2025 and charged of treason for his unwavering calls for reform of the country's flawed electoral system
Lack of accountability for the slaughtering by security forces, of over 500 unarmed young protesters and other people during and after the sham general elections
The planned youths' protests are said to be mobilized on the social media.
The ban on political rallies by the regime in Tanzania is said to have been strongly condemned by attorneys belonging to the country's law society, as unlawfully and unconstitutional. More specifically, the attorneys are said to have observed that the ban violates the country's laws, and Constitution. Accordingly, they promised to take legal actions at local and international levels, against anyone who will try to enforce the regime's illegal ban.
At the same time, the opposition in Tanzania is said to have given fully support to the stance of the law society's attorneys, saying that the ban was political motivated, and a blatant violation of the country's Constitution that permits political parties to hold political rallies.
