Drammatic Increase In African Immigrants Choosing Mexico's Border Enroute To USA
Number of African immigrants choosing Mexico's border enroute to USA in the past ten years has increased dramatically, reported some US media on December 8, 2019.
According to the reports, while only 460 African immigrants enroute to USA arrived at Mexico's border in 2007, in 2019 the number had increased to 5800. In the past one year, the number of African immigrants arriving at Mexico's border enroute to USA more than doubled from 2700 in 2018 to 5800 in 2019, the reports continued.
Furthermore, while at the beginning African immigrants destined to USA through Mexico's border originated from Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone; in recent years the immigrants included Eritreans and Ethiopians, say the reports.
