27 Gunned Down In Mass Shootings In South Africa
A total of at least 27 people were gunned down in 2 separate mass shootings in South Africa over the weekend. That was reported by some South African media on September 27, 2026.
According to the reports, 17 people were gunned down at a tavern located near Johannesburg on September 26, 2026, after 8 unknown gunmen armed with automatic assault rifles and pistols opened fire indiscriminately on guys who were enjoying their booze outside and inside the establishment.
In another mass shooting, 10 people are said to have been gunned at some sort of a nightclub located in a township near Cape Town, on the early hours of September 27, 2026, after some unknown gunmen stormed the place and opened fire on patrons.
Also, about 26 other people are said to have been wounded in the shootings.
Business rivalry and jealousy have been cited in some quarters, as possible factors for the fatal shootings.
So far, in both the shooting incidents, the shooters are still at large.
With reportedly 60 recorded murders per day, and a population of about 62 million, South Africa is indeed among countries with highest murder rates in the world.
