13 Killed In Sudan As Protests Continue

At least 13 people were killed by security forces in Sudan on April 11, 2019, as anti-government protests continued despite the ousting of President Omar al-Bashir by the military. That was reported by some media on April 12, 2019.

Defying a curfew imposed by the military after their take over, the protesters are calling for an interim civilian-led post - Omar al Bashir government. Particularly, the protesters are against a two year transitional military council administration announced by the military after the ousting of President Omar al-Bashir. They argue the military council comprises the same people who were part and parcel of Omar al-Bashir's regime.

The unfolding political situation in Sudan and even earlier in Algeria, may indicate the beginning of the end of strongman politics that still characterize some African countries, and emergence of more sustained democratic and perhaps corporate politics in the continent.
