Loyalists Of Grace Mugabe Behind Assassination Attempt, Suspects Mnangagwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe suspects a political group loyal to the country's First Lady Grace Mugabe was behind the recent assassination attempt made on him at a stadium in Bulawayo, in which two people were killed. That was reported in various media sources on June 27, 2018. Mr Mnangagwa is said to have specified the group as G40, a faction of the ruling party ZANU-PF.

Before coming to power through what has been described in some quarters as peaceful military coup, Mr Mnangagwa was in serious loggerheads with Ms Mugabe over who was to succeed former President Robert Mugabe.
