Benin's former Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni (49) won the country's Presidential Election 2026 that was held on April 12, 2026. That was reported by some African media on April 14, 2026.

According to the reports, Romuald Wadagni won the presidential poll by a landslide, taking home a staggering 94% of the vote. The opposition is said to have conceded defeat.
Romuald Wadagni is said to have contested for the top political position under the banner of a political coalition that entails two political parties, namely, Progressive Union Renewal (UPR), and Republican Bloc (BR). He will now succeed the incumbent President Patrice Telon who has served the maximum two 5-year presidential terms allowed by the country's Constitution.
Benin is said to be among some African countries that have genuine multiparty systems.
