Uganda’s security minister Elly Tumwine has commended recent brutality by the country’s police and other security organs against unarmed protesters in the capital Kampala, that has so far left 37 people dead. That was reported by some media on November 20, 2020.

Speaking on camera without showing any remorse for the massacred 37 Ugandans, the highly controversial minister could be spotted on video saying proudly that police in Uganda have a right to shoot and kill someone if that person reaches a certain level of violence. Surprisingly, the minister emphasized that police there have right to shoot and victim could die for nothing!

The protests that led to the barbaric killings by the police in Kampala, were sparked by arrest of the country’s popular member of parliament and presidential nominee for Uganda presidential election 2021, Bobi Wine, on November 18, 2020 when campaigning in the city of Jinja. He appeared in court on November 20, 2020 to answer charges related to spreading of coronavirus. He was then released on bail the same day.

For years now, local and international human rights groups have accused the Government of Uganda under President Yoweri Museveni, of using police brutality to silence voices of the opposition.
