Tanzania's no-nonsense and staunch anti-corruption leader, President John Magufuli, on January 23, 2020 fired his home affairs minister Kangi Lugola over alleged mismanagement of a $449 million contract, reported some media.
According to the reports, Mr Kangi Lugola signed an ambiguously formulated $449 million contract for buying fire fighting and rescue equipment with a Romanian company, without involving the country's ministry of finance or getting a green-light from the parliament.
