Mugabe Laid To Rest At Home Village

Former president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe who died in Singapore on September 6, 2019, was laid to rest at his home village of Kutama, about 90 kilometers northwest of Harare, on September 28, 2019.

Earlier, Mugabe's family and the government of Zimbabwe agreed the ex-president to be buried at a planned new shrine at Harare's Heroes Acre burial grounds. However, the government announced on September 26, 2019, that the family had changed its mind, and that the burial of the African hero would take place in his home village instead.

The burial is said to have been low key with no senior government officials sighted.
