Construction of Zimbabwe’s new ultra-modern parliament complex as a gift from China, has been completed, reported some African media on July 1, 2022.

The complex is situated in Harare’s suburb of Hampden. It consists of a six-floor office building for members of parliament and parliament employees, as well a four-floor building for the National Assembly and the Senate. The two buildings are spatially linked by three bridges.

The new parliament complex was constructed by Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) at a cost of US$200 million according to some media, and wholly funded by the Government of China.

Zimbabwe has strong economic ties with China, that has made the country able to make some development milestones despite the unjustified economic sanctions imposed against it by the so-called West. _____________________________ © 2015 - 2022 Africauptodate. All Rights Reserved
