Christmas Recognized As Official Public Holiday By Sudan's Government
The transitional military/civilian government in Sudan has recognized Christmas as official public holiday, reported some media on December 26, 2019. In recognizing the iconic Christian holiday, the government reportedly said it did that to promote religious equality in Sudan.
Public celebration of Christmas in Sudan was banned in 2011 by the country's ousted leader Omar al-Bashir.
