BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting 2024 Commences In Nizhny Novgorod

BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs/International Relations Meeting 2024 commenced in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, on June 10, 2024, reported some media. The ministerial meeting precedes BRICS Summit 2024 alias the 16th BRICS Summit that will be held in Kazan, Russia on October 22 - 24, 2024.



BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting 2024 will reportedly involve exchange of perspectives by the ministers, about major global and regional issues and trends. The meeting will feed into mentioned forthcoming BRICS Summit 2024.


The meeting that is scheduled for June 10 - 11, 2024, is first major BRICS event since the global bloc expanded from 5 to 10 member countries to include Ethiopia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Iran. The decision to expand the bloc was taken at the 15th BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2023 and came into effect in January 2024. The 5 members hitherto the expansion are Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.


Russia assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2024.
