Tanzania's Magufuli Goes Fish Shopping With Wicker Basket

Probably to demonstrate there are sustainable alternatives for plastic shopping bags, President John Magufuli of Tanzania was spotted in a fish market in Dar es Salaam doing his fish buying with a wicker basket. That was reported by various media on June 4, 2019.

On June 2, 2019, a ban on plastic carrier bags came into force in the East African state. Similar ban has also been enforced in some other member states of the East African Community, namely Kenya and Rwanda.
