Tanzania's Millionaire Reginald Mengi Dies At 75
One of the few native Tanzanian millionaires Dr Reginald Mengi is dead at 75, reported some media. According to the reports, the media, manufacturing, and mining mogul died on May 2, 2019 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he had gone for treatment of undisclosed illness.
With a net worth of $560 million as of 2014 by Forbes, Dr Mengi was one of the richest people in Africa. He was a holder of The Business for Peace Award of Nobel Laureates of the Business for Peace Foundation of Oslo, Norway.
Despite his massive wealth, Dr Mengi was very humble indeed. For instance, in a masterpiece interview some years back, he narrated in detail his rather underprivileged upbringing in his native region of Kilimanjaro, saying the house he grew up in, also accommodated cows and other livestock. In the interview, he insisted difficulties we face in life should be seen as challenges we should confront, rather than as problems!
Dr Reginald Mengi was married to the former Miss Tanzania Jacqueline Ntuyabaliwe.
