Cameroon's incumbent President Paul Biya (85) has won the country's 2018 Presidential Election held on October 7, 2018, announced the country's Constitutional Council on October 22, 2018.

According to the announcement, Mr Biya won by landslide taking 71% of the votes, with his main rival Maurice Kamto taking only 14%. The victory gives Mr Biya who has been in power for 36 years, a 7th term in office.

Notwithstanding, however, the opposition has refused to concede defeat claiming election fraud. Also, the re-election of President Biya comes at a time of secessionist uprising in the country's English speaking areas, that has so far claimed many deaths.
