Kampala-Entebbe Expressway. East Africa's First Freeway


Kampala-Entebbe Expressway is a 51 kilometre four lane toll freeway alias motorway that stretches from Uganda's capital Kampala to Entebbe International Airport. Construction of the freeway began in 2012 by China Communication Construction Company and completed in 2018 at a cost of $476 million.

Kampala-Entebbe Expressway was officially opened for traffic in June 15, 2018 by President Yoweri Museveni. With its four traffic interchanges, namely Busega, Kajjansi, Mpala and Lwaza, coupled with 19 overbridges and 18 underpasses, Kampala-Entebbe Expressway is, indeed, the first truly freeway in East Africa.
