Kanye West Alias Ye Upstages President Trump At Lunch At White House
According to some US media, in an invited lunch at the White House on October 11, 2018 with President Donald Trump, president's top adviser Jared Kushner, and former NFL superstar Jim Brown, popular rapper Kanye West alias Ye stole the show by delivering a speech that was so powerful and complex that left the president totally perplexed, publicly describing it and we quote: "That was quite something. That was quite something"
More specifically, in the speech, rapper Ye while covering some of the invitation's central issues for discussion, that included prison reform, gang violence, and manufacturing, added new items including among others what he said being mistakenly diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his familial situation, and his staunch support for President Trump.
Particularly significant of the speech was announcement of delay of his candidacy for the US presidential election to 2024 presumably to avoid challenging Trump in his second term presidential campaign. Also significant, was his blunt objection of President Trump's envisaged implementation of New York City style stop-and-frisk policies in Chicago, saying Chicago people distaste such policies, and that what Chicago needs is love.
Earlier in June 2018, Kanye West wife's Kim Kardashian visited the White House and managed to convince President Trump to pardon a 63 year old African American Alice Marie Johnson who was serving life sentence for drug trafficking charges. At the time of the presidential clemency, she had served 22 years.
