Construction Of Mombasa's Likoni Cable Car System To Begin

The government of Kenya has approved construction of a $40 million cross sea cable car system at Likoni in Mombasa, reported various Kenyan media on August 15, 2018.

When completed, Likoni cable car system will entail 22 cable cars capable of carrying 11 000 passengers per hour, across a 0.5 kilometer stretch of the Indian Ocean that separates Mombasa island from the mainland at Likoni. Crossing time with the cable cars will be 2 minutes.

The project is a private sector venture.
