US Senator Urges Trump To Do Something About Deteriorating Democracy In Tanzania

Prominent US Senator Bob Menendez has urged President Donald Trump to do something about deteriorating democracy or what he called tide of anti-democratic actions in Tanzania, reported Tanzania media on July 22, 2018.

In making the call, Mr Menendez, a New Jersey Democratic senator, is said to have observed, among others, that freedom of expression and civil liberties are the hallmarks of health democracy.

In recent years, the government of Tanzania has been heavily criticized both locally and internationally, for increasing authoritarianism and breach of individual freedom of its citizens.
