South Africa's Zuma Survives Motion Of No Confidence One More Time

President Jacob Zuma of South Africa has survived a motion of no confidence against his presidency. The motion was held on early August 8, 2017 in the country's parliament in Cape Town, via a secret ballot. He, however, survived with a tiny margin, with 198 and 177 MPs voting against and for the motion respectively. 30 MPs of Mr Zuma's African National Congress, ANC, are reported to have voted for the motion. Had the motion got 201 or more votes, president Zuma would have been removed from power. This is the 8th no confidence motion against president Jacob Zuma since he came to power, all of which he survived! For instance, no long ago in 2016, he survived an impeachment motion after South Africa's highest court ruled in favor of alleged breaching of the country's Constitution, through spending public funds to renovate his private homestead in KwaZulu-Natal.
