At least 150 people perished after a ferry capsized on Niger River in Nigeria on May 26, 2021, reported some media. According to the reports, the wooden vessel that was heading to Kebbi State from Niger State, broke into two parts and sank into the waters of Kainji Lake. The latter is a reservoir on Niger River.
Overloading is said to have been the cause of the accident. While the vessel had capacity for 80 people, it was reportedly carrying about 200 people when it capsized. _________________________ © 2015 - 2021 Africauptodate. All Rights Reserved
