Barbados Names Rihanna Its Ambassador Extraordinary And Plenipotentiary

On September 20, 2018, the government of Barbados appointed Rihanna as the country's ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, reported some media sources.

Rihanna's new ambassadorial position entails promotion of education, tourism, and investments for the Caribbean island. In conferring the diplomatic title to the global music megastar and fashion and beauty titan, Barbados' prime minister Mia Amor Mottley praised Rihanna for her love and patriotism for her homeland, and particularly her invaluable involvement in philanthropy.

On October 20, 2018, University of West Indies will award an honorary doctorate to Rihanna.
