Nigeria's ex-Leader Muhammadu Buhari is dead. He died in a hospital in London, UK, on July 13, 2025. He was 82.

A Nigerian Army Major General, Muhammadu Buhari ruled Nigeria in 2 different capacities and during 2 different political epochs.
On the one hand, he ruled the ECOWAS nations as a military junta leader from December 31, 1983 - August 27, 1985, during the country's long period under notorious military dictatorship.
On the other hand, after Nigeria returned to civilian rule and adopted multipartyism, Major General Muhammadu Buhari relinquished his military ambitions, entered politics as a civilian, and contested for the presidential position. He eventually won 2 consecutive presidential terms that spanned from May 29, 2015 - May 29, 2023.
