Minnesota’s Racist Police Derek Chauvin Charged With Murder Of George Floyd As Angry Protests Spread

The racist European American policeman Derek Chauvin captured on video on May 25, 2020, kneeling on the neck of an unarmed handcuffed African American man George Floyd (46) on a street in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and sadistically suffocating him until he died, has eventually been arrested and charged with murder. According to the video coverage, Derek Chauvin kept his knee on George Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, about three of which were after Mr Floyd had became unresponsive.

Derek Chauvin was arrested on May 29, 2020 and charged with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter of George Floyd, reported some US media. Three other policemen, one of European descent and two of Asian descent, involved in the torture and murder of George Floyd are still unconfined.

Notwithstanding, however, angry protests in Minneapolis are said to have escalated, with protesters ignoring curfew there and presence of State troopers and national guard soldiers. The continuation and escalation of the protests even after the arrest of the main perpetrator of the barbaric killing of George Floyd could probably be because it took rather long time for law enforcers to make the arrest despite availability of compelling video coverage of the incident, as well as the letting of the three accomplices of Derek Chauvin roam around free.

Also, the protests are said to have spread throughout the USA including to large cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Denver, Detroit, Louisville, Memphis, and Boston, among others.

Furthermore, the protests have now reportedly assumed a wider scope beyond the specific case of the killing of George Floyd, to a more general demand of justice against racism and police brutality in USA including demand for reopening of previous police brutality cases that involve killing of unarmed African Americans in which indicted police were not charged.
