Italy’s ambassador to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Luca Attanasio was on February 22, 2021 killed in an attack in the eastern part of the country, reported some media.
The ambassador was reportedly wounded and died later after a World Food Programme (WFP) convoy in which he was travelling, was ambushed by heavily armed attackers, near the city of Goma in North Kivu Province. Two other people including an army major also perished in the attack.
