Ghana's gold export revenue has surged considerably, increasing from $10.3 billion in 2024 to a staggering $20.9 billion in 2025. That was reported by some media on January 28, 2026.

Accordingly, gold continue to be Ghana's top export earning commodity far ahead of cocoa and crude oil that are said to have yielded $3.8 billion and $2.6 billion respectively in 2025.
The surge in gold export proceeds is said to have been driven by the following factors.
Massive increase in gold prices at the global gold market over the past couple of years and still ongoing
Increasing output by small-scale miners
Structural reforms in the country's mining sector. The reforms include establishment of state agency called Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) that has responsibility for regulating the mining sector
