Category 5 Hurricane Melissa has made a direct hit on Jamaica, reported some media worldwide. The extremely powerful hurricane is said to have hit the southwest coast of the island country just after noon on October 28, 2025 (local time), with winds at estimated speed of over 300 kilometres per hour. It then charged straight across the country towards the opposite side of the exotic tropical island.

Massive physical destruction and even loss of lives are likely to be caused by the hurricane along its path, given its ferocity. Already 3 people were reported dead before it touched land.
Fortunately, the capital Kingston is outside the path of the hurricane hence spared from the hurricane's most powerful winds.
