Alvin Kennard Released After 36 Years In Jail For Stealing $50

African American Alvin Kennard has been released from a jail in Alabama after serving 36 years of a life imprisonment without parole, for stealing $50 from a bakery. He was convicted of the theft charge by a court in Alabama on January 24, 1983. His release was ordered by a judge in Jefferson County, Alabama, on August 28, 2019. At the time of conviction, Mr Kennard was just 22, hence 58 today.
