US Lambasts Tanzania For Plummeting Human Rights And Rule Of Law

Africauptodate

The US has lambasted the government of Tanzania for plummeting human rights and rule of law in the East African nation, reported some media on November 11, 2018.

According to the reports, the US is particularly concerned about Tanzania government's curtailing of human rights and civil liberties that include arrests and harassment of some members of minority groups like gays.

The current government of Tanzania that came into power in late 2015, has increasingly been accused both locally and internationally for growing authoritarianism ad particularly denial of individual freedom in terms of, among others, freedom of speech as well as individual choices and decisions.

Recent manifestation of the poor state of the country's human rights and rule of law include the highly criticized homosexual crackdown in Dar es Salaam, and the arrest of the former Miss Tanzania Wema Sepetu on trivial charges of posting to the social media a photo of herself passionately kissing her newly found lover!
