Kenya High Court on August 29, 2018, suspended ongoing criminal proceedings that have been ongoing against the country's Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, reported Kenya media.
The Supreme Court of Kenya judge is facing corruption charges that include embezzlement of public funds, abuse of office, and tax evasion. However, she has dismissed the charges against her, saying they are part of a scheme aimed at embarrassing her as Kenya's second top judge.
The high court in reaching its decision, said there were some constitutional issues surrounding the criminal proceedings against Justice Mwilu that need to be addressed. In order to allow for that, the court suspended the criminal proceedings until October 9, 2018.
