As the United Nations Human Rights Council considers voting to decide whether to authorize an independent UN investigation into the violence in Democratic Republic of Congo's Kasai region, the country's government said on June 19, 2017 that it will not allow such investigation. The government said that an investigation in the region that excludes Congolese authorities would imply reducing DR Congo to a country that is not independent. UN's interest in Kasai was invigorated after two of its workers, a Swede and an American, vanished in March 2017 and later found dead. _______________________________ © 2015 - 2017 Africauptodate.
