Sudan To Deliver Deposed Ex-Leader Omar al-Bashir To ICC

Updated: Feb 17, 2020

Government of Sudan on February 11, 2020 announced it will deliver its deposed ex-president Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, the Netherlands. That was reported by various media. The transitional government will also handover all other colleagues of the former leader, that are wanted by the court.

Omar al-Bashir has been evading arrest for years, after been indicted by the ICC for genocide and crime against humanity committed in the country's Darfur region during his over 30 years of dictatorial rule. Currently, he is serving a two year jail sentence in Khartoum after a court there found him guilty in December 2019, of corruption and embezzlement of public funds.
