Russia-Africa Summit 2023 Commences In St Petersburg

Russia-Africa Summit 2023 alias 2nd Russia-Africa Summit that is scheduled for July 27 - 28, 2023, has commenced in St Petersburg. 49 African countries are reportedly taking part in the two day summit. 17 countries are represented by heads of state, while 32 countries are represented by delegations led by heads of government like prime ministers or high ranking government officials like vice presidents, foreign ministers, etc. Only 5 African countries have therefore ditched the summit.

Heads of state attending the summit are those of South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Mozambique, Comoros, Eritrea, Congo, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Burkina Faso, Libya, Burundi, and Central African Republic.



Reportedly, President Vladimir Putin speaking on the first day of the summit, said, among others, that Russia will supply free of charge up to 50 000 tons of grain to each of 6 African countries, namely, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Mali, Central African Republic, and Zimbabwe.
