DRC’s President's Ex-Chief Of Staff Handed 20 Year Jail Sentence For Embezzlement

A court in Kinshasa in Democratic Republic of Congo on June 20, 2020 sentenced the country’s president's former chief of staff Vital Kamerhe to 20 years in jail for embezzling more than $50 million of public funds. The embezzled funds were earmarked for low cost housing for the poor.


The court also banned the former high profile politician from contesting for any political position for a period of 10 years.
