156 killed In Church Attacks In Sri Lanka

More than 156 people have been killed and over 500 wounded after several churches were attacked in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, reported media worldwide on April 21, 2019. Also attacked were some luxury hotels in the capital Colombo. Whether the hotel attacks were aimed at creating confusion about the purpose of the church massacre is not known.

Sri Lanka whose 70% of its population are Buddhists, has some serious systemic sectarian issues, with minority groups, i.e, Christians (7.6%), Muslims (9.7%) and Hindus (12.6%) said to be told by authorities to stop worship gatherings. Human rights groups and some foreign governments have said that amounts to violation of human rights.
