John James Wins Michigan's Republican US Senate Primary

African American entrepreneur and former Iraq War veteran John James (37) won the race for Republican Party's nomination for US Senate for the state of Michigan on August 7, 2018. That was reported by US media on August 8, 2018.

The victory implies, Mr James will face the incumbent Senator for Michigan Debbie Stabenow (66) of the Democratic Party, in a senate electoral duel in November 2018.

President Donald Trump congratulated Mr James for the victory on Twitter, calling him the future star of the Republican Party.

If Mr John James were to emerge victorious in November, he will become the second African American Republican Senator in US modern history, joining Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina.
