Uganda's Constitutional Court Abolishes Presidential Age Limit

The Constitutional Court of Uganda has abolished presidential age limit in the country, reported various media sources on July 26, 2018. The court's decision endorsed an amendment of the Constitution approved by the country's parliament in December 2017.

The abolition of presidential age limit implies the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni (73) can seek a 6th term in office when his current term expires. Whether he intends to do that is not known at the moment. Uganda like some other countries in the world, has no constitutional limit to number of terms for the head of state position.
