Tanzania Electoral Body Endorses 15 Presidential Candidates For 2020 General Elections

Tanzania's electoral body, National Electoral Commission, on August 25, 2020 endorsed 15 presidential candidates for the country’s 2020 general elections due to be held on October 28, 2020. The candidates include, among others, incumbent President John Magufuli of the ruling party CCM who seeking re-election, Tundu Lissu of the main opposition party Chadema, and former Foreign Minister Benard Membe of Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT) alias Wazalendo party.

Official campaign for the general elections began on August 26, 2020 and will end on October 27, 2020.
