Over 400 Civilians Massacred By Illegal Military Regime In Myanmar While The World Does Nothing

Commentary | Rest Of The World March 27, 2021

On March 27, 2021, the brutal illegal military regime in Myanmar massacred at least 114 innocent civilians as it continues its bloody nationwide crackdown on anti-coup protesters, reported some media. The massacred that include small children and teenagers bring the death toll from the barbaric actions of the illegal military regime since it seized power in a military coup on February 1, 2021, to over 400. Despite this alarming death toll, the illegal military regime has reportedly said it will continue the massacre, warning that anti-coup protesters risk being shot in the head.

While this obvious crime against humanity by the brutal illegal ruling military junta in Myanmar has been going on for many weeks now, the world including the United Nations is just sitting there watching doing nothing tangible about it except some rhetoric entailing useless condemnations. How can the global community do this in the 21st century amidst the senseless brutal massacre of innocent people? Something must be done now by the world to stop these barbaric murderers from continuing murdering their own unarmed innocent citizens with impunity. Appropriate actions could include immediate indictment by the International Criminal Court (ICC) of all the members of the illegal ruling military junta in Myanmar, for crime against humanity.

Massacre of innocent citizens by any government in the world is a crime against humanity. Such massacre is not a matter of national sovereignty or even regional issue. It is about gross violation of humanity hence a global issue that requires quick resolute global response.
