21.1% of European Union (EU) population, about 92.4 million people, are living in poverty. That is according to a United Nations (UN) report on extreme poverty and human rights and reported by various media on January 30, 2021.
The UN report also observed that some 20 million children in the EU are at risk of poverty, and urged, among others, the regional bloc to give priority to social justice and lift its people out of poverty.
