Nichelle Nichols is dead. She died in Silver City, New Mexico, USA, on July 30, 2022. She was 89.

The actress starred a key role in the iconic TV series Star Trek and its film (with same name), in which she portrayed the series’ and film’s fictional character of Lieutenant Nyota Uhura.

Nichelle Nichols is said to have been a powerful role model and inspiration for young African Americans and native Africans at large aspiring to enter the TV and film industries.
