Leftist Ex-Guerrilla Gustavo Petro Is Colombia’s Next President

Leftist ex-guerrilla Gustavo Petro (62) is Colombia’s next president, reported some media on June 20, 2022.

According to the reports, Gustavo Petro won the country’s run-off presidential election held on June-19, 2022, with 50.5% of the vote. His rival, rightist Rodolfo Hernandez took 47.3% of the vote. Mr Petro becomes the first leftist president in Colombia.

Gustavo Petro is said to have vowed to tackle corruption, sectarianism, and non-inclusiveness in Colombia during his reign.
