Gun Battle At Noon In Dar es Salaam Leaves 5 Dead

A fierce gun battle at noon in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on August 25, 2021, between the police and an armed assailant, left at least 5 people dead, reported some media. The dead include 3 police officers.

The gun battle is said to have taken place near the Embassy of France in downtown Dar es Salaam. The assailant suspected to be a Somali and probably associated with ongoing Islamic insurgency in neighboring Mozambique, was gunned down in the shootout, say some of the reports.
