32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union Commences
The 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union commenced in the continental bloc's headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 10, 2019. The summit's theme is "The Year of Refugees, Returnees, and Internally Displaced Persons. Towards Durable Solutions to Forced Displacement in Africa"
Key speakers to the two day summit include, among others: current chairperson of the African Union President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and Bill Gates of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Also expected to address the summit, in what will be his inaugural speech to the African Union, is Democratic Republic of Congo's new leader, President Felix Tshisekedi.
During the summit, President Kagame will hand over chairmanship of the organization, to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi of Egypt.
