Arrest Warrant Issued For Grace Mugabe

South Africa police have issue an arrest warrant for the former first lady of Zimbabwe Grace Mugabe, for allegedly battering a young South African model in 2017. That was reported by various media on December 19, 2018. The arrest warrant is said to have been issued on December 13, 2018.

Ms Mugabe allegedly assaulted the model Gabriella Engels in a luxury hotel in Johannesburg, with an electrical cord, inflicting serious wounds on her forehead.

A diplomatic immunity controversially issued to Ms Mugabe by the government of South Africa at the time of the assault enabled her to escape arrest. However, the immunity has since then been nullified, following a legal challenge from Ms Engels lawyers.
