Buhari's Political Future In Doubt As Ruling Party Lawmakers Defect
About 15 senators belonging to Nigeria's ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the main opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on July 24, 2018, reported Nigerian media. Also, about 37 APC members of the lower chamber of the House of Representatives defected.
The massive defection by the ruling party lawmakers is said to indicate their dissatisfaction with the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. It is likely to have implications for his political future especially given he has expressed desire to contest for a second term in office.
