Britain Warns Its Citizens Planning To Visit Tanzania Of Possible Protests On April 26

British Foreign and Commonwealth Office have issued a warning to its citizens intending to visit Tanzania of possible protests there on April 26, 2018, some media sources reported on April 24, 2018.

While April 26, 2018 is the anniversary of the union of Tanzania mainland alias Tanganyika and Zanzibar, it is also the date a US based Tanzanian activist Mange Kimambi has instructed her numerous social media Tanzanian followers to mount nation-wide anti-government protests against what she says increasing denial of political freedom and abuse of human rights by the government of Tanzania. Ms Kimambi supported the current government in Tanzania at its inception but changed her stance as government got into the business of running the country.

The government of Tanzania, however, dismissed the activist's claims, saying the protests will be illegal. It warned that those who will dare to protest will be dealt with accordingly, with the country's president allegedly saying: "Let them demonstrate and they will see who I am", while a senior police officer recently threatened to break the legs of those who will join the protests!
