Tanzania And Kenya End Trade Standoff

In press statements in Nairobi on July 23, 2017, the foreign ministers of Tanzania and Kenya announced that their countries have, with immediate effect, lifted bans they imposed on goods imported from the two countries. The goods involved are wheat flour and liquefied petroleum gas from Tanzania; and milk, milk products, and cigarettes from Kenya. The lifting of the bans ends a trade standoff between the two neighboring countries, that has been going on since April 24, 2017. The trade standoff was in total contradiction to a goal of the East African Community of which Tanzania and Kenya are key members, for increasing cross-border trading.
