Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Set Free

Updated: Aug 21, 2021

Africa | Libya June 11, 2017

Saif al-slam Gaddafi, the son of the former president of Libya Muammar Gaddafi was released on June 9, 2017, by an armed rebel group that has been holding him in the Libya's western town of Zintan, since 2011. According to a statement by his lawyer, the rebels released him following an amnesty law passed by a parliament based in Eastern Libya. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi (44), was captured and kept in captivity after armed rebels supported by the West barbarically tortured and murdered his father, Muammar Gaddafi, without trial in 2011. During his leadership, his father Mr Muammar Gaddafi pursued socially and economically inclusive development policies that delivered modern social housing, affordable medical and health services, and free education for all Libyans. All these wonderful development milestones are, however, all gone now! He was also a staunch pioneer and supporter of the African Union, and opened the relatively wealthy Libya to African job seekers. Even earlier, he materially and politically supported the liberation of Zimbabwe and South Africa from minority White rule and apartheid respectively. Despite all these great features of his regime, the undisputed African hero Mr Muammar Gaddafi is often described by the West as a horrible dictator! ________________ © 2015 - 2017 Africauptodate.
